Authorized Court Transcript Ontario is a company that provides transcript production services by Certified Court Transcriptionists that have an "ACT ID" and are on the "Registry of Authorized Court Transcriptionists for Ontario with Arkley).
ACCORDING TO THE EVIDENCE ACT - ONTARIO REGULATION 158/03]
The person who transcribes the recording and certifies the transcripts for in-court proceedings shall be a person who is trained and qualified to transcribe recordings and is a member of a class of persons who are authorized to do so by the Attorney General.
How does someone become authorized to produce and certify transcripts of in-court proceedings in Ontario?
Individuals wishing to become an authorized court transcriptionist must have completed qualification training and testing through an Ontario educational institution recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Training and qualifications were administered by the educational institutions. Upon proof of successful completion of the curriculum, as well as obtaining the required contractor security clearance, signing an agreement with Arkley Professional Services and paying the annual listing fee, the authorized court transcriptionist is added to the List of Authorized Court Transcriptionists for Ontario.
An ACT (Authorized Court Transcriptionist) is eligible to create verbatim transcripts of proceedings of the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice.
Our Certified Court Transcriptionists are authorized to certify that the transcripts are at Ministry Standards that can be used as evidence in court.
